The cannabis industry is one of the fastest growing in the U.S. With more states legalizing or decriminalizing marijuana and the recent legalization of hemp under the Farm Bill, investments in the space will no doubt continue to grow. Marijuana remains a Schedule I controlled substance under federal law, which poses significant challenges in financing, banking, and tax to cannabis-related businesses. David Feldman, seasoned corporate and securities attorney, explains the issues most commonly faced by cannabis related businesses and their service providers as a result of the fed and state laws dichotomy and what he expects on the legislative horizon.
